Just this weekend,
I had been mulling over,
in my mind,
how much sugar and processed food,
I eat in a day's time.
That toast for breakfast,
spread with homemade jam.
The lunchtime sandwich,
made with white bread.
The dinnertime cornbread,
slathered with butter.
And my favorite -
the afternoon Coca-Cola.

Do you realize that one 12 ounce can of Coke
has 40 grams of sugar -
and that is the equivalent of
10 TEASPOONS!!
Now, how many of us
would put that much sugar
in our coffee or tea?
According to a report
on The Today Show
this morning,
the average American
eats
90 POUNDS OF SUGAR
a year!!

But for me the trigger
is not only sugar,
it's things that taste sweet,
like Diet-rite Grape Soda.
I can do fairly well
if I don't even start with
a bit of sweet for breakfast,
but one chocolate chip
can set me off on a sugar rampage.
I might be hard to live with
for a few weeks,
but I'm seriously trying to cut back
on the sugar consumption.
I think I can,
I think I can,
I know I can!!
Blessings to all who visit here,

Staying away from sugar is very hard to do. If I open a bag of cookies, I can never only eat one cookie....I go into a craze and have to eat about half of the bag at least! Lots of love, Debbie
ReplyDeleteI love and crave sugar, too. I've found though if I don't have some sugar in the morning I get a big drop in blood sugar mid-day and get the shakes really bad. I feel like I'm going to pass out. I've always grabbed something to eat when it happens. I don't know what would happen if I didn't. I think I may be a little hypoglycemic. If I have fruit or something sweet for breakfast, I don't have the problem.

I have been doing the same since the start of the new year. But the last couple of weeks I have caved big time. My favorite Easter treat is at the stores. I love the Russel Stover dark chocolate coconut eggs. LOVE them.
ReplyDeletefunny I posted this same picture on our SOUL FOOD FB page! We are made to crave GOD not SUGAR!!!!!!!
