PROCRASTINATE, PROCRASTINATED, PROCRASTINATING

I admit it,
I'm the "Queen"
of it.
I hate it,
especially when it gets to the final moment.

And that's where I am today.

I generally schedule all medical test
in January
so that I can have them over
for the year and not look back.
That works fairly well for me.
The doctor's office
gives me a set appointment
and I generally don't reschedule - too much.

But today is the last day of January
and
Virginia requires all vehicles
to be inspected
one time a year.
And
all
of
our
vehicles
have
a
big
old
1
right on the front windshield.

So,
I'll be there,
with a bunch of
tobacco-chewing old men,
sitting in the garage,
waiting,
knitting,
waiting,
knitting,
waiting
for my truck to pass inspection.

There are a few
words and phrases
that I would like to eliminate
from my vocabulary -
take a rain-check,
dawdle,
put off
postpone -
well you get the picture.

William James
says,
"Nothing is so fatiguing
as the eternal hanging on
of an uncompleted task".

It is my goal to
do more
and
procrastinate less.

Blessings to all who visit here,
Lynn

  2. My motto seems to be "there's always tomorrow". Then I kick myself when I have to do things at the last minute - things that I could have done sooner. Oh well, guess there are a lot of procrastinators out there, so you're not alone. Welcome to the club!!

  3. I procrastinate way too much myself. Something I have tried to break myself of time and time again.

  4. I carry a datebook in my purse and honestly its main function is lists that I can cross off.

  5. I am not a procrastinator for most things, and I do live by lists. Without my list, I am lost.

When we lived in MA, we had twice a year vehicle inspections, that may have changed. But here in KS we have NONE except at the point of sale. I guess I am happy that is one less thing to do, but it does make one wonder about the safety of a lot of cars on the road.

  6. Hah! Had a pad of post-its that said, "If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done!" So I can relate completely! Seems like so much gets in the way of things we promise ourselves we'll do on ______. (this date!) So understand!
